Welcome to the very first blog post for Ecovale Farm! It's currently mid-March, and the snow outside is still at least up to mid-thigh in some spots, which I know because I've sunk into it a few times. That can make it a bit difficult to be thinking of summer and growing things and eating fresh produce right off the plant, but that's all coming. I have my garden and growing plans, and I am really looking forward to having some new stuff in the garden this year. I'm also looking forward to sharing the experience through our CSA, which I think is a fantastic arrangement because it combines so many things I like about country living - gardening, eating home-grown food, learning new recipes, improving my land, and sharing my enthusiasm for those things with my community.

If you're going to keep checking back here and reading about what's going on around the farm (which I hope you will do, and sign up of course!), you're more than likely going to run into the occasional slightly activist statements. Part of the reason I'm starting this CSA is because I think that now, more than ever, it's important to support local food, local products and businesses, sustainable use... but I digress, and there is plenty of time for more of that later.

So, I will end with an expression that has always rung true for me, as an ecologist, and mother, and farmer, and all the other things I am:
Be the change you want to see in the world.
