Pork: Over the past 2 years, we've started raising pigs over the summer for pork. They go outside daily, root around in mud, dirt, or grass, play with tree branches, tires, and sometimes the goats - nicely, of course! They have a great life and make for very tasty pork. Pork is available for $8/lb, and we have chops, schnitzel, sausages, bacon, and more! Check out our Facebook page for some photos until the updates are completed for this website!
Chicken: We also have chicken meat for sale, from the meat chickens we raised over summer. These chickens were raised from chicks to full size in a large stall with access to sunshine and fresh air, and room to walk, run, hop and even fly a little. As they were raised with more space and activity than the chicken in most grocery stores, the meat has more flavour and texture, and you get true dark meat with the whole chickens and some of the cuts. Prices range (based on processing fees) from $5.50/lb for whole chicken to $9/lb for skinless and boneless breasts and thighs.
Dried Herbs: Every year I harvest a variety of herbs by hand and dry the leaves whole, then store them in airtight containers. When herbs are crushed, much of the aroma is released, so drying them whole-leaf keeps them at their best for later use.
As the year progresses, other products will be available, depending of course on weather! These may include seedlings, flowers, berries, vegetables, goat's milk, and seasonal decorations.
